HyLo Team

Jen Green, Founder

Jen Green is a cultivator of connections whose compass always leads her to a good story. Graduating from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in English and French, Jen was inspired by her love of language to spend eight months in France. It was there that she learned to live ‘in translation,’ maneuvering linguistic boundaries as she wandered city streets and discovered vibrant marketplaces. Now back in Philadelphia, Jen can frequently be found at Café Lutécia indulging her francophile cravings or biking down Pine Street to the Headhouse Market. Jen was deeply involved with the Kelly Writers House during her time at Penn, where she found a sense of community that prompted her to cultivate relationships with neighborhood storeowners. These relationships inspired Jen to create HyLo so she could spread her love of Philly’s hyperlocal scene at large. Prior to this venture, she worked as an analyst at a management consulting firm.
Some of the local establishments Jen loves supporting: Market Day Canelé, Kanella, Lakshmi Hair Studio, Honest Tom’s Taco Truck, and the Book Corner.

Dominique Negron, Fashion Editor

Dominique Negrón was born and raised in the Germantown section of Philadelphia. Growing up in a mixed-heritage background and an art-filled house, her love of the great painters and musicians as well as different cultures developed at an early age. After attending the William Penn Charter School, she pursued a degree in Anthropology at the University of New Hampshire. Since graduation Dominique has lived in Quito, Ecuador, where she came into touch with her passion for the art of fashion. Through her studies in Anthropology and interest in Environmental Science, she developed an understanding of the importance of buying local products and shopping second hand because of the fashion industry’s notorious association with both human rights issues and environmental degradation. Aesthetically, Dominique’s fashion sense can be described as eclectic, with a specific focus on thrifting for unique pieces, vintage clothing (for its overall quality), tribal patterns, bold colors and, as of recent, an affinity for luxurious neutrals. Current design inspiration: Céline, Chloé, Balmain and Isabel Marant.

Some of the local establishments Dominique loves supporting: Iovine Brothers, Sabrina’s Cafe, Bargain Thrift Center, Honey’s Sit-N-Eat, and Quince Fine Foods.

Jt Christensen, Interiors Consultant

Sometimes described as East Coast Urbane meets LA meets Copenhagen, Jt’s varied formal backgrounds in fine arts, graphic design & photography culminated in his degree and professional career in interior architecture. At age 26, Jt launched studio:christensen, a multifaceted design firm. One part retail furniture showroom, one part art gallery and one part office space, the studio serves as a launchpad for projects in corporate branding, hospitality and residential design. The gallery, meanwhile, features a rotation of cutting-edge contemporary artwork mixed with 20th century design classics. As an interior architect, Jt draws inspiration from modern classics and conveys them in a progressive contemporary style.

Molly O’Neill, Chief Blogger & Content Editor

After a childhood in Northern California and a few trial-and-error years at other East Coast universities, Molly O’Neill graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2011. She is currently employed at the Kelly Writers House on UPenn’s campus, where she works with prospective students, helps coordinate events, does research work, and is a Teaching Assistant. Molly also tends bar at Resurrection Ale House, an endeavor which helped her discover her undying love for all things food- and beer-related. Molly has written for Penn Appétit and Peregrine magazines, merging her passion for food with her drive to write. A stint working retail at the Sailor Jerry store and an addiction to TLC’s “What Not to Wear” shifted Molly’s focus to fashion, and she now puts her creativity to use by finding new justifications to buy more shoes.
